The promoter/initiator (in the context of the Monterey Insight Fund Report) is the company that provides the seed capital to a fund. Monterey Insight’s Fund Report is a practical reference works rather than a legal directory. Therefore, our definition of the promoter/initiator is not always within the strict legal definition and the promoter/initiator names used in the publication are not always the full legal name. Monterey Insight always seeks to classify the promoter/initiator as the ultimate organisation for which a fund has been launched.

In the case where a fund is branded with the name of a single organisation, this will normally be the promoter/initiator of the fund. Rather than using the full legal name of the company promoting a fund, Monterey Insight uses a generic version that is applicable to the activities of the organisation worldwide. Accordingly, the words Limited, S.A. and Inc. are never used and neither is any geographical branding such as the inclusion of any country in the promoter/initiator name
